Dry winter weather seems like a distant memory as the temperatures start to get warmer but it was a difficult one on our skin. Even with the warmer weather, dry and damaged skin is still an issue in our home but I think we’ve found a solution.

I shared a list of 18 products to combat dry winter skin and I love them all. When my youngest daughter developed a sore red rash on her hands and lower arms I tried SkinFX, one of our family favourites, but it didn’t seem to help. Then I was invited to a lunch by the folks at CeraVe to a lunch to learn about its various skincare products in Canada.

I’ll admit I had never heard of the brand before this lunch but I was eager to try the CeraVe Moisture Cream The logic behind the products developed with dermatologists, replacing deficient elements in your skin barriers that may have lead to various skin conditions beyond just dry or oily skin, seemed fitting for my daughter’s irritated skin.

Within two days of applying the CeraVe Moisturizing Cream my daughter’s red and chafed hands and arms had returned to her regular skin condition. We made sure to apply the cream after being outside and every time she washed to avoid a repeat of her uncomfortable skin.

The CeraVe Moisturizing Cream is just one product of the whole CeraVe line available within drugstores. Recently the line expanded to include two new CeraVe Moisturizing products: CeraVe AM Facial Moisturizing Lotion SPF 30 and PM Facial Moisturizing Lotion. I had a chance to try both of these products. The main difference between the two products is the inclusion of sunscreen in the AM lotion. This is actually a nice light lotion with the sunscreen that goes on without a greasy feeling. The AM and PM Moisturizing Lotion as well as the Foaming Facial Cleanser may reduce redness in your skin too, something that appealed to me as I suffer from a slight case of rosacea

I haven’t noticed too much difference with the slight redness on my face but I did witness the benefits of the AM and PM Moisturizing Lotion on my husband’s skin. When he had red irritated skin on his face from peeling skin, the Moisturizing Lotions helped reduce the redness and irritaiton greatly and the build-in sunscreen added some extra protection to already sensitive skin.

CeraVe may not have glamourous packaging, it’s probably something I’ve walked by a few times on the drugstore shelves, but knowing it works the way it does for dry skin and other skin conditions makes it something I’ll keep on hand.
