I’m not one to hit the coffee shop for mocha lattes, cappuccinos or other specialty coffee drinks, unless it’s the holiday. Second Cup puts you in the holiday mood with some festive drinks and nibbles.
After Halloween passes, I begin to dream of gingerbread houses, twinkling stars, and sugarplums. Okay, maybe not sugar plums but my mind definitely starts to focus on the Christmas holiday ahead. My favourite part is the lead up, the days, and weeks before when it’s okay to eat cookies, drink cocoa, and sit by the fire.
I love festive themed treats and starting in November Second Cup delivers with classics like Candy Cane Hot Chocolate and Eggnog Latte. I recently had a chance to try the Toasted Marshmallow Latte and S’Mores Hot Chocolate. I love the toasted marshamallow flavoured whipped cream on top of the Toasted Marshmallow Latte, but the S’Mores Hot Chocolate is my favourite. You can’t go wrong with a rich hot chocolate but Second Cup goes a step further and adds a topping of toasted marshmallow whipped cream, butter-graphm sugar sprinkes and a drizzle of chocolate. It’s like S’mores in a cup. I think my kids will be requesting this often.
And a nice hot drink isn’t complete without a sweet treat. Add a mini S’mores Cupcake, Mini Mint Brownie, or a Shortbread Sandwich Cookie for a full-on holiday experience. The small sizes make the sweets ideal little treats to compliment your drink.
So even if you’re not ready to hit the malls for holiday shopping, you can still get into a festive mood with holiday treats at Second Cup starting this November. And until then, I’m going to enjoy my Pumpkin Spice Chillatte (only available until the end of October).
