Synopsis from Fitzhenry & Whiteside:
Pierrot was a dreamer child, whose only friends were imaginary. Until the day Mr. Fred entered his life, with his invisible book…
When our kids our little we love their creative imagination but as they get older the whole imaginary world seems to be childish, something that may cause adults and other kids to tease another child. That’s the world Pierrot lives in The Fabulous World of Mr. Fred.
Mr. Fred creates imaginary worlds full of fantastic adventures and wonderful characters, stories that have Pierrot wanting to hear again and again. The stories we read and the ones we make-up to tell our kids are usually from some part of the imaginary world. The Fabulous World of Mr. Fred affirms that our imaginary worlds can be a delightful escape for ourselves and others. It can also be a comfort when those we care about are no longer nearby. I hope my kids never give up on the imaginary.
