Whether it’s easy riddles, difficult riddles, funny riddles or interesting brain teasers with answers… The kids love solving riddles.
And as a parent, I love that riddles for kids get them thinking differently, which is always a great skill to learn.
Among the numerous things you can do to boost your child’s ability to think, learn, and remember, one of the most fun and easiest methods is to introduce them to riddles and brain teasers.
“There’s nothing like fun riddles …”
Here are some of our favorite riddles to share with your kids!
Benefits of Riddles for Kids
When it comes to riddles for kids there are so many benefits that go further than the initial laugh!
- Introduction to Intellectual humor: Laughter is just good for the soul and when you are learning something new laughter helps motivate you a little bit more. It helps relieve stress and also helps fight boredom. So when kids learn riddles it breaks up standard learning, but yet allows the brain to continue to work in a whole new way.
- Teaches Problem-solving skills: Problem-solving is one of the most important things we can teach our kids and riddles help improve kid’s problem skills.
- Critical Thinking Skills: Critical thinking is a key component kids use while solving riddles. As kids solve riddles they learn how to critically think more in-depth which improves comprehension and creativity.
- Expands Vocabulary: As kids read and solve riddles they are constantly expanding their vocabulary. They are learning new words and multiple meanings and ways to use words. Riddles for kids help kids understand words by using words in a variety of different contexts to help expand your child’s vocabulary.
- Share Knowledge: As kids learn riddles they have the opportunity to learn new skills and words and then share them with others. They can share these riddles with siblings, friends, teachers, and even parents. As your child shares this knowledge it not only reinforces the skills they are learning through riddles but learns socialization skills as well.
- Creates Bonds: By sharing the love of riddles with your kids you are helping them create bonds with you as well as their peers. If your child is shy sometimes it just takes one riddle to get them interacting and laughing with peers. This interaction creates lifelong bonds with their peers.
- Establish a love for learning: When kids first begin telling and trying to solve riddles it is fun! They love it because it makes them laugh and they enjoy figuring out the riddle. They don’t realize they are “learning” while they are doing it. Riddles help establish a lifelong love of reading.

Q: What never asks questions but is often answered?
Your answer was “doorbell”, but he said he it should have been phone. Although, he only said that because he thought if the answer was phone, then he could convince me that since a phone is for answering calls, which would mean his answer, “A call for justice” (he had just finished watching The Justice League), technically wouldn’t be 100% wrong, haha!
The riddle that had the not completely correct, not totally wrong answer was:
Q: How far can a dog run into the woods?
Your answer was “The dog can run into the woods only to the half of the wood-then it would run out of the woods”. His answer was “One step” and he explained that after that first step inside the woods, he would be running through the woods, or out of the woods, but not into the woods since he was already there.
That was amazing I didn’t know any of them

B.C. stands for Before Christ, and it means the number of years before the birth of Jesus Christ. If it is a truth, he will be given to the lions. The explorer thinks hard and says his statement. The chief thinks hard and has no choice but to let him go. why is that?
The explorer said he will be thrown off a cliff. This thus causes a paradox allowing it to be true but at the same time a lie.

Suggest adding a few blank lines after every riddle so people looking at them on their screen can try to answer them without seeing the answer RIGHT below.
Alternate answer for 3 and 5 gal pails is: fill the 3 gal pail and pour into empty 5 gal pail. Then refill 3 gal pail and fill the 5 gal pail leaving 1 gal in the 3 gal pail. Empty the 5 gal pail and pour the 1 gal in. Then fill 3 gal pail and pour in for total of exactly 4 gal.
Some spelling mistakes (storey not story in the house question), centimeters not centemeters in that riddle
rainbow riddle would be fairer if written “what is at the end of rainbow?”
Thanks for the corrections and the alternative riddle answer. I love riddles that have multiple ways of solving them. Good idea about adding some separation from the answers. I’ll have to give that idea some thought.
