7 Weeks Pregnant
You have made it to week 7!
By now most women probably know they are pregnant either by a missed period or some sort of first-trimester pregnancy symptom.
Even though you may not be telling everyone you are pregnant yet your body is screaming at you that you are! From morning sickness that yes can last all day, sensitivity to smells, constipation, excessive tiredness, and OMG all the trips to the bathroom to pee!
How Big Is Baby at 7 Weeks Pregnant?
Your baby is growing like crazy inside of you and even though you can’t feel it yet he or she has doubled in size since just last week. Your baby has gone from a sweet pea to a black bean.
Let’s talk about all the changes your little baby is going through this week. There are now paddle-like hands and feet best suited for his water environment. Soon those little paddles will turn into hands and feet and will have cute little toes and fingers to count and kiss when the day finally arrives that you can hold them in your arms.
Your baby’s eyes, ears, mouth, and nose continue to develop as well as the start of the umbilical cord where it gets all of its nutrients from is developing.
Your baby is receiving lots of nutrients with all those cravings you are having which is helping your baby’s brain, heart and lungs are developing rapidly.

Peeing a Lot in Pregnancy
Can you say hello frequent bathroom visits? You might be noticing now the urge to pee thanks to your growing uterus pressing down on your bladder.
I remember at this point being really annoyed that I was waking up to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night.
It can be frustrating to wake to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night but think of it as your body preparing you for the many times you will get to wake up once your baby arrives for feedings every 2-3 hours.
I know it is tempting to drink less in hopes that you don’t have to use the bathroom as much, but don’t do this. You and your baby need those fluids, so go fill up a bottle of water and get familiar with where all the bathrooms are at all your favorite places.
Your baby and body need the extra fluids so don’t dehydrate yourself.
Welcome to Pregnancy Constipation!
Are you feeling a bit more constipated now that you are pregnant?
Thanks to all the hormones you now may be experiencing constipation. This is a totally normal symptom of first-trimester pregnancy.
There are lots of things you can do to help relieve pregnancy constipation.
Eat Smaller more frequent meals.
One of the best things you can do to relieve pregnancy constipation is to eat smaller meals and more often. This allows your system to not be bogged down all at once trying to process huge amounts of food.
Include any type of juice that starts with a “P”
A secret tip my mom taught me when I was pregnant and suffering from pregnancy constipation was to include any type of juice that starts with a P. Think pineapple, papaya, pear, peach, prune, etc. This is bound to do the trick.
Increase your fiber by eating more fruits and veggies
Increasing your fiber is a great way to help relieve pregnancy constipation as well. Fiber helps you stay more regular, especially during pregnancy. Fruits and vegetables help you to have a well-balanced diet and helps you stay regular, so grab some carrot sticks or an apple and enjoy a small snack.
Get up and move.
Getting up and getting moving help get your system up and moving. So something as simple as going for a walk outside could do the trick for you to relieve pregnancy constipation.
How to ease Nausea
I remember when I was so sick from morning sickness everyone would always say you need to eat and drink and I would think to myself, “Honey, just thinking about eating and drinking makes me cringe my teeth to hold the vomit down!”
But it is so important even when you are suffering from nausea and morning sickness that you still need to eat and drink, even if it is coming back up.
One way to ease nausea while pregnant is to keep a mental note of the foods that make you feel more queasy and try to stay clear. I found out the hard way that steaming broccoli for dinner was a mistake.
If you are having a hard time keeping food down or super nauseous try keeping healthy snacks close by and snacking a little at a time instead of waiting for mealtimes.
I found the more hungry I got in between meals, the more nauseous I became. So, keep those snacks on hand.
What if I’m not feeling any Nausea or Constipation?
Consider yourself one of the lucky ones if you are not suffering from nausea or constipation.
Every pregnancy is unique and different, so just relax and enjoy the foods your body is currently craving.

What Do I Do at 7 Weeks Pregnant?
Stay hydrated and listen to your body.
If your body says, “let’s eat a hamburger,” than eat a hamburger. Our bodies are beautiful creations and have a way of telling us what it needs, especially when pregnant.
You are still extra tired and tired is a good thing.
Being tired means your baby is growing. Now is a good time to start a prenatal exercise routine. The more you keep moving the better you’ll feel.
Increase your fiber and eat your fruits and veggies
Keep healthy snacks with you at all times.
Keeping healthy snacks with you is key at this point. This can help with nausea or even gaining unwanted weight. Just think about it, if you carry almonds with you in your purse and you get hungry you can pull those out and snack on them rather than driving through your favorite fast food restaurant to grab a large french fries and a soda.
You made it another week and are doing great! Get your rest, drink plenty of fluids, and it’s ok to eat when you are hungry because you are halfway through your first trimester!
