Solitaire card games are a great way to distract the kids with a learning tossed in. I’ve shared the game Accordion and even posted a video on how to play Clock (perfect for learning the position of numbers on a clock face. Pirate Gold is another great solitaire game for kids and I’m sharing how to play.

The great thing about solitaire is that the only thing you need is a simple deck of cards. Pirate Gold solitaire game is easy to set-up and learn.

How to Play Pirate Gold Solitaire Card Game

With the jokers removed and deck shuffled, you start the game by placing two rows of 5 cards, face up.

The object of the game is to use up all the cards remaining in the deck and this is done by finding pairs. Looking at the cards face-up on the table, you’re trying to find a pair. When you do, you’ll pull from the deck in your hand to cover each card in the pair.

Then you’ll look for the next pair and the next pair until you’ve covered all the pairs on the table or your run out of cards in your hand.

Since all you are doing is matching numbers, Pirate Gold solitaire is a great game for young kids practicing number recognition. It’s also a solitaire game that can have more wins than losses which can be important for kids trying to understand the concept of win and lose.
