As 2014 wraps up I find myself reflecting on the positive moments from the year and taking that inspiration forward. We had a very fulfilling Christmas season full of many blessings and being able to share that with other children not as fortunate makes my heart happy.
I’m talking about our involvement with the Kellogg’s Rice Krispies Treats for Toys program. You may remember our Minecraft Rice Krispies Blocks that were a big hit at school or the princess with her cat my youngest daughter sculpted our of Rice Krispies cereal. We had fun working together in the kitchen, making tasty treats for the holidays and working towards giving other children a toy under their tree this Christmas.
You see, every toy inspired treat that was made and shared using the hashtag #TreatsforToys lead to a $20 donation from Kellogg’s Rice Krispies to the Salvation Army in order buy toys for children. Bake and share we did and others too. Over one thousand treats were shared. That means a donation of $21, 720 Cdn to the Salvation Army. That’s a nice share of Christmas gifts that appeared under trees this year, gifts that might not have been enjoyed without this donation.
It feels pretty good knowing we played a small part in this contribution, a small part in making a child happy this Christmas. That seems like a great way to end the year and a happy heart to carry forward into 2015 for everyone who contributed and all the kids who received.
This post was sponsored by Kellogg’s Rice Krispies in support of their Treats for Toys holiday campaign, but as always the content shared is my own.
