For many, long weekends mean a trip to the cottage. For us they mean hitting the road and exploring a new part of the country. Hotel Preston is a great stop for the family road trip to Nashville.

The retro look of the Hotel Preston pops from the couches in the lobby lounge to the lamps in each guest room. The Hotel Preston wants its guests to feel at home. Order a body pillow, request a board game for the kids, or pick out a CD for the player in your room. You can even request a lava lamp, rubber duckie or your own little fishy for your room. It was these fun touches that enticed us about the hotel for our Nashville road trip.

The kids were enamored with their little fishy friend and they loved falling asleep to the funky glow of the lava lamp in their room.

Hotel Preston isn’t located in town but out close to the airport. We didn’t encounter any airport noise until the day we left. When visiting Nashville we planned on driving around town so being located out the outskirts of the city wasn’t an issue for us. It also meant we didn’t have to worry about hotel parking fees, valet parking, or In/Out privileges which can sometimes be an added cost when staying within the city. We were pleasantly surprised to find all sorts of parking options around the city so there was no worry about driving and parking in town.

Even on a road trip you sometimes need a down day. Hotel Preston offers an outdoor pool for cooling down. It can get rather warm in Nashville so you’ll probably be thankful for the cool pool water. After a busy day exploring the city and surrounding area, the kids loved a quick pool break before heading out for the evening. The shallow end is about 3 feet, which was perfect even for my youngest daughter. You won’t find any pool bar and towel service at the pool but when you’re in the pool you won’t care.

Live music is available all over Nashville but if you don’t feel like heading out you can still enjoy the live music experience in The Pink Lounge, Hotel Preston’s onsite lounge. Returning from a busy day, it was nice to be greeted by the music wafting through the lobby lounge area.

As for the rooms at the Hotel Preston, they are actually pretty big, providing some walk around space even with two beds in the room but they do offer adjoining rooms should you require more space or are traveling with a larger family. Should you have the budget, adjoining rooms offer families a number of benefits.

We enjoyed our stay at Hotel Preston though we had some issues receiving toiletries after our first day there. The two other additions that would make Hotel Princeton ideal for family travelers would be a mini fridge and safe within the room (things we’ve come accustomed to on our city road trips).

Nashville is a fun destination for families and the Hotel Preston makes for a fun stopover.
