You are 14 weeks pregnant and in trimester 2. Check out how your body is changing and your 14 week old fetus is developing with this comprehensive guide.
14 Weeks Pregnant
Congrats you are 14 weeks pregnant, which means you have officially made it into trimester 2!
By now you might be feeling a bit better with morning sickness symptoms going away and an increase of energy!
There is no wonder why trimester 2 is called the “honeymoon phase” of pregnancy. You feel great, you have more energy, pregnancy symptoms are low…
Now is the time to hit the town and get stuff done.
How Big Is Baby at 14 Weeks Pregnant?
About the size of a peach – around 3 ½ inches – who weighs close to 2 ounces.
Your baby has doubled in size over the last week.
How Is My 14 Week Fetus Developing?
Your little 14 week fetus is moving this week!
Although your baby’s eyelids are fused shut they are still moving their eyes.
Those legs and arms are getting stronger as they are flexing them and moving them. (Although we can’t feel this quite yet.)
These kicks and flexes are allowing your baby to learn important skills.
Your baby might be getting some hair at 14 weeks! They are getting eyebrows as well.
Their body is also being covered with Lanugo. This is basically is a thin layer of hair to help your baby keep warm inside of you. As you baby gets fatter the lanugo will shed because it is no longer needed.
Your baby’s intestines are working this week as well as producing meconium, which will be the waste that your baby poops their first few poops after they are born.
Another fun fact of week 14 of pregnancy is that your baby’s genitals are fully developed, which means soon you will know if you are having a little boy or girl! (Although it is too early to tell on an ultrasound still.)
Your sweet little baby is looking more like a little baby each week.
14 Weeks Pregnant Belly
Do you feel like every day your pregnant belly is getting a little bigger? I distinctly remember that every Wednesday I would wake up and feel way bigger than the day before.
You 14 week pregnant belly might feel a bit sore and a little achy right now as it continues to expand so that your baby has room to move around and grow.
By now you are probably gaining 1-2 pounds a week which is about the average weight gain. Of course, you might be gaining a little bit more or a little less depending on your circumstances.
If you are concerned about weight gain talk with your doctor.
Now that you are feeling better it is a perfect time to get your 14 week pregnant belly outside and go for a walk. If you have other kids take them with you. Put them in the stroller or let them ride their bikes or scooters. It is a perfect time to bond with them.
Are we having a boy or a girl?
Although it is too early to tell on an ultrasound, it is always fun to guess if you are having a boy or a girl.
With all our kids we researched all the myths to determine if it was going to be a boy or a girl.
We swung a wedding ring on a string above my belly, I peed in a cup to check for acidity, we checked the Chinese calendar we did it all to figure out if it was a boy or a girl.
