23 Weeks Pregnant
You are 23 weeks pregnant! Every week you are getting closer to your due date even though it feels so far away still!
Just keep doing what you are doing and the weeks will soon quickly pass!
Meanwhile, your little 23 week fetus is going as well as your 23 weeks pregnant belly!
How Big Is Baby at 23 Weeks Pregnant?
At 23 weeks pregnant your baby is about 12 inches long and is the size of an eggplant.
How Is My 23 Week Fetus Developing?
Over the next four weeks your baby is going to double in weight. Their skin is saggy but don’t worry as time progresses their skin will be filled with fat cells and they will come out all plump when they are ready.
This week you may be able to hear your baby’s heartbeat through a stethoscope. Before it was just through a doppler.
I never got tired of hearing my baby’s heartbeats. It’s such a joy to hear it and wonder about the future with them.
Why Amniotic Fluid?
Some women wonder why amniotic fluid is so important and why we have so much? Amniotic fluid plays a key role in your little baby’s life.
The Amniotic fluid protects your baby from all the outside elements and creates a perfect environment for them to live in.
Amniotic fluid keeps your baby warm and protects them if you were to accidentally slip and fall.
Amniotic fluid not only does all this, but it also is what your baby is swallowing to get nutrients that they need. This then is teaching their digestive system to work properly.
Some women worry about not having enough amniotic fluid to get through their pregnancy. Experts say to drink lots of water during your pregnancy because it helps to create amniotic fluid.
23 Weeks Pregnant Belly
Since your 23 weeks pregnant belly is now visible and people are starting to notice the change you might hear some really interesting things.
Sometimes people don’t have a filter and will comment on how big or small your 23 weeks pregnant belly is.
Just don’t take anything anyone says personally.
Your weight gain should be between 12 and 15 pounds and everyone carries their baby bump differently. So if you have gained more or less than this don’t sweat it. If you are concerned about it, talk to your doctor about your weight at your next prenatal appointment.
23 Weeks Pregnant Symptoms
Snoring is one of my least favorite 23 weeks pregnant symptoms.
This can be annoying to your partner but oh so common in pregnancy thanks to swollen nasal passages.
This is caused by the extra weight gain that has happened.
If you looking for ways to help with snoring at night try using a nasal strip at nighttime. Nasal strips are completely safe to use while pregnant.
You can also prop up some pillows and elevate your head and see if that helps.
Also, try to keep your calories watched and don’t put on more weight than suggested for pregnancy.
Extra weight contributes to snoring.
By now you may be noticing burning, numbness, and tingling in your hands can be coming from what is known as pregnancy carpal tunnel syndrome.
If you are working at a computer this can be something you are experiencing and after delivery, your symptoms should subside.
To help relieve tingling hands be sure you are not sleeping with your hands under your pillows at night.
Allow your hands to be free so you’re not constricting blood flow to your hands.
Also, try stretching your wrist a few times throughout the day.
Feeling your heart race lately? This is completely normal. Your body is regulating all the extra oxygen and blood that is now flowing throughout your body and being delivered to your baby via the placenta.
Don’t overlook a racing heart if you are feeling shortness of breath along with it that lasts for long periods of time. If this happens you will need to call your doctor as soon as possible.

What to Do at 23 Weeks Pregnant?
Learn to Relax
Pregnancy comes with lots of unanswered questions about the present and the future. Concerns about labor and the unknowns are normal, but try not to dwell on them and use your time now to practice some relaxation techniques.
Yoga is a great way to clear your mind and relax. Also when you feel yourself getting worked up or overwhelmed find a quiet place to sit, close your eyes and take deep breaths in and out.
Unfortunately, you can’t see the future and don’t really know what lies ahead but with some good relaxation techniques, you can help yourself relax and have less anxiety about the unknown.
Get Plenty of Sleep
Getting plenty of sleep at 23 weeks pregnant is important.
This can be hard to do thanks to your changing body and racing thoughts.
When it comes to sleep figure out what you need extra to get comfortable. This could be a pregnancy pillow, a fan by your bed if you tend to get hot while you sleep.
Set yourself up for a successful night’s rest and try going to bed earlier to allow yourself time to get comfy and get extra sleep your body needs.
