Family vacations are great for hanging out together but sometimes everyone needs their own space. Hawks Cay has just the solution for the kids. Camp Hawk (ages 5 to 12) will keep the kids busy feeding fish, learning to snorkel, and exploring the island on nature hikes and scavenger hunts. The great thing about Camp Hawk, you can book it around your family vacation schedule. Book a morning or afternoon (includes a snack) and then spend the other part of the day together at the pool or book the kids in all day with a snack and lunch and enjoy some adult time together. The Indies Club was a short walk from our villa too.

If your kids aren’t into spending day at camp but do enjoy the occasional activity with other kids, Hawks Cay offers organized crafts and activities during the day for kids to participate in. My two older kids loved making their own shark tooth necklaces. The nice thing about these craft activities, kids can play in the pools in the family area (the fun Pirate Pool or quiet family Indies Pool) and pop in for a quick craft. The only fee is for material so it’s an inexpensive way to entertain the kids plus the crafts makes great keepsakes from your vacation. My kids still wear their necklaces.

The Indies Club isn’t just for the young kids. Pre-teens and teens will enjoy The Cove, a club house where they can play video games, air hockey, watch TV or just hang out. It’s a cool lounge for kids. The Indies Grill is one of the dining options available right in the Indies Club area, plus the Emack and Bolio ice cream counter is sure to be a big hit. Teens Night Out is an evening activity schedled at the Indies Club. For a small cover fee, teens can hangout with other teens, play games in The Cove, enjoy organized competitions and snacks.

I love that the Indies Club area is fenced off so everyone has to enter through the Indies Club building. This means no worries about young kids wondering off throughout the resort. The Indies Club is also where you can rent bikes for the family to pedel around the resort property. They even have a suri bike which is always fun.

A really cool feature offered at Hawks Cay is the Dolphin Connection. Just off to the side of the lagoon guests can find the Dolphin pools. Hawks Cay Resort is the only hotel or resort in the continental United States that features an on-site dolphin research facility. The Dolphin Connection offers a number of great programs depending on how much interaction you would like to experience with the Dolphins. Get right in the water with the Dolphins in the Dolphin Discover or interact and feed the dolphins from the dock in the Dockside Dolphins program . But if you or your child have a real love of Dolphins then you’ll want to checkout the Hawks Cay Dolphin Trainer for a Day program. Limited to just two participants a day, the Dolphin Trainer for a Day program really gives you a unique first hand experience, including elements from the Dolphin Discover and Dockside Dolphin programs too.

Read our whole review on our experience at the Hawks Cay family resort in the Florida Keys, including their villas, their great restaurants, and the variety of pools.

Thanks fo the folks at Hawks Cay for giving us the chance to experience their Indies Club activities.
