American Express Delights Program Delights Families

Sharing is Caring!

With school, work and personal commitments, it sometimes feels as though life is zipping by.  This year I’m making a concerted effort to spend more time with my family living the fun and memorable moments. American Express Canada’s Delights program makes it a little bit easier.

An Amex Ambassador for 2013, I’m given the opportunity to share some of the many benefits American Express membership can offer families, such as ensuring the best first concert experience with my daughter. As a fan this isn’t a difficult task, especially when it comes to talking about American Express Delights, an online program offering Cardmembers special offers and exclusive experiences.

From enjoying a three-course dinner with wine pairing at Alice Fazooli’s to VIP treatment at a Blue Rodeo concert, American Express Delights caters to a variety of tastes. You can check out the Delights website to see the different experiences currently available to Cardmembers and peek as some of the fabulous offers previously made available to Cardmembers. One such Delights offer was a Great Wolf Lodge experience, perfect for a quick family getaway.

We surprised our kids by picking them up after school one Friday and heading to Great Wolf Lodge in Niagara Falls. Our package included water park access on both the Friday and the Saturday so in hindsight I probably would have left a little earlier to take advantage of more park time but the kids loved it. To get the most of your water park time, you can even order food right in the park, only leaving to hit the sack in our family suite when the park closes.

Of course the kids were up at the crack of dawn to ensure they took full advantage of day two in the water park. I loved that our American Express Delights package included a buffet breakfast in Great Wolf Lodges’ Antler Shanty Grub restaurant. All I had to do was show my voucher (which was included in my Delights package at check-in) and enjoy. The kids loved the mini waffles but my favourite was the oatmeal with fresh fruit. Have you climbed the stairs to the large waterslides? The Niagara Rapids Run was a family favourite and also the highest slide in the park (along with the Wooly Mammoth). You’ll need your energy to climb those stairs again and again.

Although the water park at Great Wolf Lodge is the main attraction our American Express Delights package gave us a chance to have fun without our bathing suits. My oldest daughter loves the idea of spa treatments so I agreed to let her get a manicure and pedicure at Great Wolf Lodge’s Kid Spa, Scoops, especially since our Delights package included 15% off of any Elements or Scoops Spa treatment during our visit. There are only so many spots available in the spa so my recommendation is to book early.

We ended our family escape in the arcade, using the 40 tokens that came with our Delights package. The kids had a great time playing games though I think the hardest part was deciding on their prizes.

Since my Great Wolf Lodge package was prepaid with my American Express Card on the Delights website, I had nothing to worry about at the end of our stay (we had paid for dinner directly on the Friday night). The trip was short but a perfect family getaway when no one seems to have very much time. I used to think my credit card was just a means of buying groceries or paying for the kids’ new clothes, but with programs like Delights and Front of the Line my American Express card offers me so much more. I’ve already taken advantage of other Delights offers, such as a night of dinner and tickets to the play Les Misérables. I’m already looking forward to the next Delights offer that tickles my fancy. Perhaps a night out with my husband next time?
