I’m never one to be ahead of the game. It’s not until the cold weather sets in that I go through the trunk to figure out if I have the clothes for the season, usually resulting in some shopping for new items. The Lolë Yellow Label Program makes it easier to get a coat while helping others who need it most.

From October 7 until December 1, 2013, Lolë will be collecting pre-loved coats as part of their Lolë Yellow Label Program. After being inspected, washed, photographed and repackaged, these coats will be sold online at Lolewomen.com/yellowlabel for $40 Cdn (though you are more than welcome to add your own additional donation to each purchase). And Lolë will even cover the cost of shipping your pre-loved coat to you (within Canada). All proceeds from the Lolë Yellow Label sale will be donated to local food banks across the country. By purchasing one of these coats you can keep your outsides toasty while warming your heart knowing that you are helping those who can really use assistance.

“Giving clothing a second life promotes responsible consumption and environmental sustainability,” says Nathalie Binda, VP Marketing, Lolë.  “To perpetuate these values, we are inviting Canadians to give back to the community and to join this movement through the Lolë Yellow Label Program.”

Currently Lole employees have offered up their coats for the sale but Canadians are invited to contribute a coat as well. If you have a clean coat that has been worn less than five years, no matter what brand or size, you can donate it to the Lolë Yellow Label sale, dropping off your coat at any of the following locations:

Ontario

Lolë Atelier Yorkville – 88 Yorkville Avenue, Toronto
Lolë Atelier Oakville – 172 Lakeshore Road East, Oakville
Lolë Atelier Bayview – 2901 Bayview Avenue, Toronto

What doesn’t fit you or has been sitting in your closet for a while might be just what another person is looking for. Plus, by donating your coat, Lolë will provide you with a $50 gift card to make finding a new Lolë coat even easier, like one of my favourites the Masella Jacket

As you prepare to bundle up, remember those who might not be as fortunate. Help your local food back by participating in the Lolë Yellow Label program this fall by either donating one of your own pre-loved coats or purchasing someone else’s coat.
