One of the things we love about Netflix is discovering new shows, like Mako Mermaids.

The Australian show H2O – Just Add Water is one such show my kids soaked up. And now mermaids are coming back to Netflix with the new series Mako Mermaids.

My kids still watch H2O, about three girls who happen to be swimming in a magical pool under a full moon and are transformed into mermaids.

They’ve watched and rewatched all three seasons.

To get her mermaid fix, my oldest daughter has just started reading Helene Boudreau’s book Real Mermaids Don’t Hold Their Breath.

I guess my kids aren’t the only ones who are fans of H2O as the original creators are bringing their new series Mako Mermaids exclusively to Netflix this summer.

Mako Mermaids Brings a Magical World Back to Life

According to the Netflix release, following on where “H2O – Just Add Water” left off, mischievous teen mermaids Lyla, Nixie and Sirena, guardians of Mako Island, fail to stop 16-year-old boy Zac from falling into the sacred Moon Pool and becoming a Merman.

Risk being cast out forever, the mermaids must get legs, venture onto land and take back Zac’s new powers.

The new season airs on July 26 with the first thirteen episodes followed by the second half of the season set to arrive in September.

You can see the trailer below.

I guess mermaids will be taking over our TV on Friday night.
