It started as a Christmas gift from grandma when my oldest was just starting kindergarten. Each month my daughter would search the mailbox for the delivery intended just for her. I’m talking about Chirp magazine. This month Chirp is celebrating its 15th anniversary and they want kids to join in on the fun.
From that first magazine delivery, Chirp has continued to be part of our home as each of our three children discovered the joy of reading and the written word. It’s amazing to think that Owlkids published Chirp has been part of the lives of early readers for fifteen years.
To celebrate, the September 2012 issue of Chirp is jammed packed full of birthday fun, including solving a party puzzle, making a Chirp cake and learning the ‘Birthday Dance’. Until October 31, 2012, children between the ages of 2 and 6 years are also invited to enter the Chirp Birthday Contest by submitting a drawing of Chirp at a birthday party. One grand prize winner will receive a prize pack and loot bags for 15 of his or her friends. Details on the contest can be found in the September birthday issue of Chirp or by visiting the contest page on owlkids.com.
For many families with beginner readers, Chirp is a friend of the family, and nothing beats having a party with a friend.
Happy Birthday Chirp!
