Ah the joy that is Oreo. Who hasn’t dunked these babies whole, in milk or twisted them apart to savour the sweet filling? I’ll admit it, I’m a cookie twister. This option just seems to make the enjoyment last that much longer. Well today marks the Oreo cookie’s 100th birthday and to celebrate Orea had cake. Not just any cake but three spectacular birthday cakes created by some of the top bakers across Canada.
I love the large Oreo cookie base and the old tin on this cake from Toronto baker and Oreo fan, Susan Trianos, of Susan Trianos Custome Cakes.
The second cake, being a gift to Oreo from Milk (best friends of course), celebrates the global appeal and festivities of such a momentous occasion. Calgary cake artist and Oreo fan, Rose Sen, owner of Sen Cakes, created the cake.
The final cake, created by Vancouver pastry chef and Oreo fan, Anna Wawzoneck, of Anna Elizabeth Cakes, plays on the two fun ways to eat your Oreo: dunk and twist.
Of course you may not be able to recreate such splendiferous cake creations but you can host your own mini celebration at home with some of these tasty ideas, all include the Oreo cookie in the ingredients:
- Cookies and Cream Cupcakes
- Oreo and Peanut Butter Baby Lattice Pies
- Mini Chocolate Oreo Cakes
- No-Bake Chewy Oreo Cookies and Cream Bars

- Oreo Heath Cake

Enjoy!
