Even though we haven’t even hit spring yet, we’re already thinking ahead to summer. Kids’ camp, family holidays and beach vacation can only mean one thing: swimsuits. I might be old fashion but I don’t think my kids are ready to be seen by the pool and playing in the sand wearing a two-piece swimsuit. Some parts of my child’s body just don’t need to be on display for everyone else. Yet, finding a one-piece suit that is appealing, especially as your kids get older and develop their own style, can be tricky. We found a few one-piece suits that we think make the cut.

DVF Loves GapKids Printed Swimsuit

one_piece_swimsuit_dvf_gapLove the colourful, funky pattern on this suit, like modern flowers popping out at you in this DVF swimsuit from GapCanada. The seam crossing the front gives it the same feel as the fun wrap dresses from the same collection and the little skirt as a feminine feel. My daughter will be sporting one of these at summer camp this year. $48.00 Cdn

Splendid Nautical Stripes

one_piece_swimsuit_nordstrom_marcelThis white and blue one-piece from Splendid has cross-over straps in the back, accent by a cute tie. The stripes have a fresh, nautical feel and the stripe change on the top provide a nice change-up on the suit. The fact that the suit is made in the USA is another sweet feature. $58.25 Cdn

L.L. Bean Hibiscus Sport Swimsuit

one_piece_swimsuit_llb_beachFrom swimming lessons on a rainy day to sandcastles on the beach, L.L. Bean’s Hibiscus swimsuit is bound to bring out your child’s sunny disposition. The beachy pattern (also available Blue Reef and Sky Blue colours) and double strap add a grown-up flavour while still being fun. $29.95 US

Speedo Tie-Dye Love Two Piece

one_piece_swimsuit_speedo_loveOkay, technically this suit from Speedo isn’t a one-piece. If you have a tall girl, like I do, sometimes a one-piece just doesn’t fit right. That’s where a two-piece like this, with a long top that covers the midriff, can come in handy. There are no thin straps or skimpy exposed areas and the racer-back straps mean the suit will stay put. $39.99 Cdn

Sunseals Swimdress

one_piece_swimsuit_sunseals_sundressIf your girl is a girly-girl than a swimdress from Sunseals might be the way to go. These two-piece suits have fun flowery prints and frill. The sleeves run to about the elbows and the shorts to around the knees, giving your daughter protection from the sun with Sunseals’ unique solar protective swim wear. Plus they’re designed right here in Canada. $56.99 – $62.99 Cdn (depending on the size).
