Bubba & Boo is the first full-length work of Megan Schoenbaum, a Bay-area musician and mother of two. The debut children’s album, released this month and available for purchase through Amazon and iTunes, carries the powerful messages of kindness, compassion, and humanity.

The album starts with the title track, “Bubba & Boo,” a toe-tapper that sets the mood for what proves to be a really fun 10 tracks. Songs on Bubba & Boo are inspired by – and in some cases featuring – featuring her children. The high-energy “Friends We’ll Be” is the kind of tune that sticks with you (in a good way!), and “The PJ Song” and “Waltzing Mathilda” will no doubt inspire countless sing-alongs.

Megan describes her style as “kindie rock:” kid-centric tunes with an Indie bent. She sings about being thankful for the little things in life, accepting one another, and dealing with “artist’s block,” among other subjects that may prompt conversations or teachable moments with your little ones.

With positive messages and simple melodies throughout, Bubba & Boo will be a hit with my 6- and 3-year-olds, and it’s sure to go into heavy rotation for our daily commute!

Megan Schoenbohm began her music career at the age of 2 years old, playing on pots and pans with wooden spoons.  From a very young age, she was hooked on music, wanting to play any instrument she could get her hands on.  As a child, she studied drums & percussion, piano and flute; taught herself oboe, guitar, and bass, and she also wrote her own songs.

Megan is a 2004 graduate of Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts, with a degree in Music Therapy. While living in Boston, she rediscovered a love for songwriting and began recording and performing original music around the city. In that time, she released two solo albums, “Bare Your Soul” and “Off the Record.”

After pursuing her lifelong dream of driving across the country to move to Northern California, Megan became certified to teach interactive music classes with families and began teaching and performing all over the Bay Area. She currently offers music classes across Marin and also offers interactive music performances at birthday parties and special events.

When Megan isn’t making music, she’s either to be found on her yoga mat, cooking up some gluten-free yumminess, or somewhere jamming with her two children, Kaia and Xavier (aka “Boo” and “Bubba”).
