Last year my mom accidently turned my dad’s new undershirts pink. They ended up in the donation bag but then I found a DIY tote bag idea that could use these shirts.

I loved Salt Tree’s DIY T-Shirt Tote because it looked easy enough that I could do it. She said it only takes 5-minutes to make. Plus it would reuse my dad’s shirts. The pink wasn’t that bad. I don’t sew and I don’t own a sewing machine but I found directions on doing a back stitch, which is suppose to be almost as strong as a sewing machine stitch.

I was excited about making something myself. I like craft kits but it’s different when you are doing your own craft. The sewing was harder than I thought. Five minutes into the craft and I messed up the stitch and I almost stopped making the bag. I do sometimes want things to be perfect when I start them. My mom reminded me that this was my first project. I’m glad I did finish the bag. It looks pretty good. I enjoyed making the bag so much I made one for my little sister too.

This DIY T-Shirt Tote Bag is a great first sewing project. This is a great project for reusing old shirts, like your favourite shirt that doesn’t fit anymore. It’s also something your friends won’t own. Guess what everyone will be getting for Christmas this year?

Have you ever made something yourself? Do you know any other great DIY projects I can try and add to my DIY Pinterest board?

Bye for now,
