After sharing our gallery of 8 Recycled Products We Love it’s impressive to see so many companies making an effort to recycle and upcycle. Thanks to a partnership between Tire Stewardship BC and OK Tire, families can now do something with their old tires too.

On May 11, 2013, BC residents can take their old, unwanted tires to three Tire Round-Up events at:

  • OK Tire 6092 Kingsway, Burnaby;
  • OK Tire 1843 Kingsway, Vancouver;
  • OK Tire 325A 12th Street, New Westminster.

“This is the first time we’ve ever hosted Tire Round-Ups in Vancouver, Burnaby and New West. The demand for environmentally friendly disposal options is increasing in cities, and the response to these events has been incredible,” says Mike Hennessy, TSBC Executive Director. “At each location on May 11th, visitors can drop off their old car tires so they don’t end up in landfills. It’s an easy way to get that spring cleaning done, while helping the environment and giving back to your community.”

Since the program’s inception over twenty years ago, the TSBC has recycled more than 60 million tires, with the majority being used in recycled products and the remainder used as a fuel supplement.

Along with knowing where to drop off old tires, the BC Recyclepedia tool helps residents determine what products can be recycled and where. You can find the tool on the Recycling Council of BC website at Recycling Council of BC web site at www.rcbc.bc.ca or as a free smart phone App.
