age 3-5

40 pages

 Synopsis from Raincoast Books:

In Luna, Chip and Inkie’s first adventure the trio gets lost after following a butterfly into the woods. Stuck in an unfamiliar part of the forest, they all begin to worry. After a bit of squabbling and a bit of creative thinking they each contribute with their own ideas and unique talents to find their way back home. A story of friendship, creativity and collaboration, Which Way Back? is an action-packed picture book with vibrant illustrations from front to back.

Like Luna, Chip, and Inkie, kids tend to live in the moment, getting excited to explore and discover new things. But sometimes doing things without thinking them through can lead to a spot of trouble like getting lost. Which Way Back? touches on a child’s curiosity and what can happen if you don’t think things through. It also illustrates how working as a team, using the strengths of others, can help you out of a jam, that sometimes things aren’t as dire as they seem.

I also love the connection to nature and relying on the environment around you. The three friends in Which Way Back? use their knowledge of the creek as a guide to help them home. The cure illustrations make the three friends all that more lovable, like stuffies on your child’s bed. You can learn more about the three friends at the end of the book too. We had fun determining which animal most resembled each of us at home.

I’m anticipating this is the first of many books from Knowledge Kids. I look forward to reading about future adventures with Luna, Chip, and Inkie.
