Synopsis from Groundwood Books
While tracking clues from a secret code penciled in the margins of mystery novels at a public library, Derek Knowles-Collier discovers a time capsule, an unpublished author and a gravestone that may finally put his haunting past to rest.
Right from the first chapter, where Derek and his friends learn about deciphering and understanding the significance of grave markers, my son and I were hooked on The Spotted Dog Last Seen. I think secretly my son was wanted to visit a graveyard so he could test some of the theories and techniques shared by the Brigade.
But the story is so much more than perceived ghosts. It deals with friendship, secrets, and connections. Add in a little mystery and you’ll be whipping through pages like we did. The Spotted Dog Last Seen had the ability to keep our curiosity peeked, gave us more than a few ah-ha moments, and even had us teary-eyed. I’m looking forward to going through the book again to solve the secret code.
