Synopsis from Thomas Allen and Son:
What will Ollie wear to school? A bathing suit? NO! A space suit? NO! A police officer’s uniform? NO! Will Ollie wear pants, a shirt, socks, and shoes? YES! While chock-full of fun, this read-aloud favorite offers many educational opportunities as it engages children in the reading process, exposes them to the sight words yes and no, and teaches social skills and positive classroom behavior.
Kids starting school probably have lots of questions about what to expect. Some they may ask and others may just float around in their head as worry. Ollie’s School Day asks (and answers) some of those questions as well as addresses social skills and behaviour expected at school. This great read aloud book encourages kids to answer back with YES or NO. The kids will get a chuckle out of the silly answers and will pick-up a few true answers to questions they may have themselves.
Ollie’s School Day helps put to rest any fears kids may have about starting school and creates the opportunity to ask other questions or talk about how to behave in the classroom and school yard.
