Synopsis from DK Canada:

Discover the wonderful world of plants in your own backyard with fun, creative activities! Following on from the success of Grow It, Cook It; Wildlife Gardening; and Ready, Set, Grow!, DK’s latest children’s gardening title, How Does My Garden Grow?, uses gardening activities, scientific experiments, art projects, cooking, and even magic tricks to help kids learn about the structure and life cycles of plants.

Most kids have probably grown a bean plant from a seed; a common experiment done in most elementary classrooms. DK Canada’s How Does My Garden Grow expands on a child’s inquisitive nature when it comes to, well, nature. Along with talking about how plants grow, this book provides great craft and food ideas for plants. Grow lavendar to make a Lavendar Buddy. Make potato and carrot chips.Grow a herb garden. Kids will get inspired by the variety of ideas and will also learn more about the imporance of and our connection with nature.

The book uses full colour photos showing kids growing and making and working. The photos are most of the content with callouts and lists containing instructions in bite-size ways for kids. There’s a glossary and appendix at the back and a table of contents at the front, making it easy to find a project based on your child’s interests or a project you might already be working on in the backyard.

How Does My Garden Grow? is a great book on empowering and educating kids when it comes to our green world
