Synopsis from Sterling Publishing:
Gilbert–the lovable white shark created by the award-winning author/illustrator duo Jane Clarke and Charles Fuge–is back in a third thrilling adventure. And the exciting news is: there’s a new baby in Gilbert’s family! But Gilbert proves he still has a lot to learn about being a big brother. When a hungry killer whale comes around, will Gilbert be able to save Finn?
Being a older brother or sister is a big role, opening older kids to a unique bond with their siblings as well as giving them the new role of teacher. Just like in most young sibling relationships, Gilbert wants to get his younger brother Fin to start playing with him now, even if his little brother is not big enough.
Gilbert the Hero is a great book looking at the bond between siblings, the eagerness to share, the protective nature. Also, the importance of looking out for each other when it’s needed. I loved how Gilbert the Hero does such a good job illustrating this early stage in sibling relationships.
