Synopsis from Harper Collins Canada:

Meet Eva and Sadie, two sisters with big personalities! When big sister Sadie notices that Eva’s hair is just too long and getting out of control, she decides to take matters into her own hands. When the haircut is over and there’s a pile of hair on the floor, Sadie realizes she may have done something wrong. What will Eva and Sadie’s parents say? Will they be able to fix the worst haircut ever?

Jeff Cohen’s Eva and Sadie and the Worst Haircut EVER! struck a cord in our family. Two of our three kids gave themselves haircuts. I’m not sure if it’s a fascination with hair or just using scissors to cut something other than paper, string, and the occasional pair of pants.

Of course parents get involved when Sadie’s new haircut is discovered and Eva does have a consequences for her action. I do like that this part, facing up for something Eva shouldn’t have done, is included in the story but that it’s not heavy handed. Families who have gone through this episode (maybe more than once) will relate to Eva and Sadie and the Worst Haircut EVER! Perhaps I great story to read BEFORE the next (or first) self haircut occurs.

You can find a copy of Eva and Sadie and the Worst Haircut EVER! at your local bookstore or at Harper Collins Canada. Visit our Kid’s Books section for other great book recommendations. Of course Eva is just being a good sister looking out for her little sister and her uncontrollable hair. As an aside, I love Sadie’s hair, maybe not as her mother who has to brush it.
