Synopsis from Raincoast Books:

Renowned artist J.otto Seibold gives Halloween a delightfully wacky and sweet spin in this counting board book starring Dagmar, the beloved vegetarian vampire from Vunce Upon a Time. Lift the flaps and count from one to ten billion — or at least from one to ten!

I love J.otto Seibold, known for many books including one of my favourites Olive, the Other Reindeer. This cute lift-the-flap boardbook, Count, Dagmar, includes J.otto Seilboold’s fantastic graphical design, but it also invites kids to count along with the Count.

Throughout the book Count Dagmar gets ready for his party and invites the reader to count the number of various creatures attending the party: monsters, bats, skeletons. The creatues are hidden behind a flap like a tree or a bush that the kids have to open to reveal. They can see the number in both numeric and written form and can count the actual creatures too.

Count, Dagmar offers monsterific twist to a traditional concept book. The graphics are great and the flaps will keep kids engaged. This book is perfect for Halloween but it could really be read all year round. Who doesn’t love cute monsters?

You can add Count, Dagmar to your personal library by visiting your local book store or visiting Raincoast Books. Visit our Kid’s Books section for other great book recommendations. What are you reading with your kids?

I have to thank Crystal at Raincoast Books for my review copy.
