Synopsis from Tundra Books:

Young children are full of questions about how their bodies work. With straightforward, easy-to-understand language and a playful attitude, Liza Fromer and Francine Gerstein MD have collaborated to create books packed with solid information about the intricacies of the human body. Their reassuring text describes the body’s various systems and supplies parents and caregivers with answers that will help them provide the accurate, age-appropriate information young children need. My Noisy Body deals with the digestive system and the many noises it creates, from burps to stomach growls to farts. Why do we hiccup? Sneeze? Snore?

Farts. Hiccups. Burps. These are hysterical to my 5 and 7 year old. My Noisy Body, part of the Body Works series of books, gives kids a better understanding of why their body makes these sounds. Each spread in the book focuses on one body sound, giving a short answer to what is the cause. Throughout the copy the author includes the actual medical terms (MT) too as well as facts, true or false questions and things Doctor’s say.

Some kids with a genuine interest might read this book on their own but I found more detailed was retained when we read it together. It even offered information that I as a parent wasn’t aware of, like your stomach growls due to air and happens whether you’re hungry or not). The back of the book also contains a glossary of terms used, which we found helpful. My Noisy Body was a great top line view of the various noises your body makes and why. After reading this, your kids will be full of fun facts I’m sure they’ll love to share with their friends.

Also part of the Body Works series: My Messy Body, My Stretchy Body, My Achy Body, My Healthy Body, and My Itchy Body.
