Montreal is an easy weekend getaway and when we heard it was home to the world’s largest permanent Barbie exhibit we had to plan a visit. Finding downtown accommodations for a family of five was easy when we discovered Hotel Le Crystal.
The hotel offers a number of room options but all are suites. That means you’ll enjoy two flat screen televisions (a nice plus when traveling with the kids), complimentary Internet, a separate living and bedroom area, a Nespresso machine for your morning coffee or evening tea, and much more.
For our family, we decided to spread out a little, staying in the two-bedroom penthouse topaz room. We had two bathrooms (one with a super soaker tub), two bedrooms, a large living room and even two decks overlooking downtown Montreal.
You can see the spread for yourself in our room tour video below:
I love that the Hotel Le Crystal was located right within downtown Montreal. We could easily walk to the Barbie exhibit as well as the numerous shops and restaurants on Rue Ste-Catherine O. Even Old Montreal was within walking distance, though the weather during our weekend escape was a little chilly.
Even if you don’t want to head outside, Hotel Le Crystal offers a heated salt water pool and saunas for the family but my favourite had to be the outdoor hot tub. I love the mix of cold air and hot water overlooking Montreal.
Before heading out to Old Montreal for dinner at Gibby’s, the adults enjoyed some lovely handcrafted cocktails in the bar of Coupole. Our bartender was amazing, building delicious cocktails with local ingredients. She even shared a few samples of mixes she was working on for summer cocktails. I love the mix of local spirits and ingredients she infused in her drinks. The bar is definitely worth a stop even if it’s just before heading out for dinner or for a nightcap.
Of course the best way to end a night visiting Montreal is with a cup of tea and a lovely soak. The bathroom in our penthouse suite, the main bathroom, had an amazingly deep soaker tub. Close the door, steep some team and enjoy a good book while the rest of the family enjoys a movie on the television down the hall in your suite’s living room. I kind of miss that bathroom now that I’m home.
Our stay at the Hotel Le Crystal reminded me why we love staying in downtown Montreal and hope to make a return visit when the warmer weather hits.
How affordable are the rooms though?
I believe the penthouse is about $400 Cdn a night, cheaper than booking adjoining rooms. Loved the little condo appeal too Freda. They do have small rooms for 4 or less people, all suites which is nice.
