The latest from our Heart and Soul

I love Christmas. Even when it’s not Christmas time I’m thinking about Christmas. When on family vacations I’ll search out the local Christmas store (and you know most places have one) to buy an ornament commemorating our trip that year. I have a fisherman holding a wreath from my trip to Nova Scotia, a sand dollar from a Florida trip, a Las Vegas sign decked out in Christmas lights and even an ornament with the symbols of the four main theme parks at Disney World. Bronner_Worlds_Biggest_Christmas_Store_SantaI love putting these on the tree every year and remembering the fun we had as a family.

Being the Christmas fan I am you can imagine how my interest was piqued when I discovered the home of the World’s Biggest Christmas store was located in the United States. When I found out it is actually located in Frankenmuth, Michigan, an easy days drive away, we had to visit it.

Bronner’s Christmas Wonderland, founded by Wally Bronner in 1945, is home to over 50,000 Christmas décor items, including ornaments, lights, trees, outdoor décor, nativity scenes and more.

Just one peek at the store directory (pdf) and you can tell you’re in for a few hours of Christmas delight. Everywhere you looks you’ll see a bit of Christmas. There are even displays hanging from the ceiling.

The ornament selection is so vast, they have everything organized into cateogories. There are ornaments about cats or dogs or other animals; there’s a category on food ornaments; there are ornments by state and country. No matter what your interest you’re bound to find an ornament to fit that category.

During the Christmas season (from November 26 to December 24) kids can visit Santa with their wish list and you can snap a picture for free.

Bronner’s doesn’t just immerse you in Christmas in the store; you’ll want to visit at night to see their large outdoor lighting displays, including an arched driveway around the whole parking lot that is lit up completely.

You can see some of their products online but it doesn’t compare to visiting the store in person. The Bronner website also has fun pages with tree decorating tips and Christmas greetings from around the world. I really like their printable colouring pages.

Not to worry if you can’t make a visit to Bronner’s Christmas Wonderland during the Christmas holiday season, they are open 361 days of the year (excluding New Year’s Day, Easter, US Thanksgiving, and of course Christmas).

To see some of the Christmas items Bronner's carries or to find out where they are located so you can plan your own in-person visit, visit www.bronners.com. You can also follow them on twitter or join them on facebook.
