ThinkFun creates some great games the really get kids thinking. My five-year-old son and I have had the change to review some of our favourites like RushHour Jr and S'Match.
Today we add another ThinkFun game to our favourite list, but this time it’s my seven-year-old’s turn. My daughter has become obsessed with the game Chocolate Fix, another great logic game.
The premise is that you are filling in for the chocolate shop's owner while he's away. He's left a book containing all the orders, but they only seem to be partially filled in. Using logic based on the clues given you try to complete the proper order (which chocolate shape and colour goes in the right spot in the chocolate box.
I love that the game itself is a tray of chocolates complete with lid. Each playing piece is a piece of chocolate. The pieces even have wrappers to add to the realism. My daughter gets right into the game too, pretending she is filling out chocolate orders.
The game provides illustrated examples of how to play right up front. There are 40 challenge cards, or chocolate orders, starting at a beginner level and go up to expert. Having a single player game, which Chocolate Fix is, means my daughter can play it on her own; no need to involve her siblings or wait for me. This makes a great quiet activity when waiting for dinner.
ThinkFun's Chocolate Fix is designed for kids 8+ but even I enjoyed playing some of the challenge cards. Each card also provides you with the answer to check if you completed the challenge correctly. I love that the challenge cards are in a flipbook; as you complete one challenge you just flip over to start a new one. And there are no loose cards to contend with.
When you’re all done everything stores away in a nice drawn string bag (one of my favourite features of the ThinkFun games). This makes it easy for storage and even easier to toss in your bag for a visit to the cottage or Grandma’s house.
You can see how addictive Chocolate Fix is yourself by playing a demo version of it on ThinkFun's site.

Can't wait till my son is old enough to play these games! In the meantime, I might be playing them myself! Rush Hour is a definite favourite but Raging Rapids looks fun too!

We own Zingo and the kids (8,6,2) love playing it!
Chocolate Fix looks like a lot of fun!
We have quite a few ThinkFun logic games - Rush Hour Jr, Sudoku, Tipover, TreasureQuest, HotSpot, Brick by Brick and Raging River. All three of my children love the Think Fun puzzles and they are great on the go and easily fit into a purse/bag for impromptu entertainment!
