There has been a ton of terrible news in the world this week, so my mission was to find some good news in pop culture to try and perk everyone up. Easier said than done. I had to take some stories and look on the bright side of them; find the good old silver lining. Once again this was not an easy task, but here we go...
1) Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel broke up. YAY Fabulous news; he’s AVAILABLE! Anyone who knows me knows I have a boy crush on JT, so it’s not as heartless and callus as it seems. Ok, it is, but he is so damn cute and she is, well, she has harry knuckles. Word is he has already hooked up with a young new starlet. I didn’t even get a shot.
2) Renee Zellweger says she never planned on being famous. Oh happy day, she is leaving Hollywood; bye-bye fake squeaky voice and crazy mouth stuff. Sorry, I really reached for the silver lining on this one. Not so lucky. She is just being all bathos in an extremely dull interview, saying how she never planned or wanted all the fame and fortune...blah blah blah. Give that shit to someone else then!
3) David Beckham and Lady Beckham are expecting a GIRL. This is good news; no searching needed. If I was a mother of three boys and had such a passion for fashion as Frowny Faced Lady Beckham, I would want some pink too. Maybe now she might be able to chisel out a smile. The couple is expecting their fourth child in July.
4) John Cryer is a troll. This is so good. He is coming out and paving the way for all other trolls to feel ok in their own skin. I am sure this makes a lot of people happy in Hollywood and professional sports, where we all know there exists a ton of trolls. John Cryer spoke out on Conan’s show about Charlie Sheen calling him a troll. He kept a sense of humour about it and chose to poke more fun at himself. I love Duckie even more now.
5) The Smurfs trailer is released! Ok I am really reaching here, but it is a blast from the past for many of us. I used to love the Smurfs. It was my Saturday morning ritual. I will be bringing my wee ones to check it out for sure when it’s released August 3rd. After all the Smurfs are heading to New York City, how very chic.

1 ounce Amaretto
3ounces Apple juice
juice from 1 fresh lemon
Shake all ingredients well with ice and serve in a large glass full of ice.
