Fall TV Shows: To Watch or Not to Watch

Written by Dee Brun

So the fall television season starts to heat up next week. With my already full TV schedule I am really not sure on how or what I am going to fit in. After all I have creates a fine balance between well written sitcoms, dramatic tear jerkers and of course the must see reality t.v.

There are a few that of course I am at least going to have to check out.

The Event is trying to create a lot of buzz with itʼs “what is it all about” approach.popculture_fall-TV-shows I may have to watch an episode or two just to se if there is anything there. Seems like they are trying to fill the whole from Lost and a floundering Heroes. The Law & Order franchise is aunching yet another spin off with Law & Order Los Angeles. I will have to give this one the good old college try, I am a huge fan of the franchise. Letʼs hope they do right by the legacy and not have Justin Bieber as a guest in their season opener a la C.S.I.

Survivor is back but on a new night, Wednesdays starting September 15. This once again I will watch, after all these seasons I guess I am considered a die hard.

There are a few shows on this season that I will be steering clear from, not even worth the initial first episode investment. My television time is precious to me, I donʼt get a lot of it and donʼt want to waste it. I recently saw an add for a new Bravo called Thintervention with Jackie Warner. Besides the overly used pun in the title this show is yet another spin off from the already tired Biggest Loser. Not to mention the fact that Jackie Warner herself could use an “Intervention” of another kind. I am all for being at your healthiest and best self, sounds great to me. However I would not take advise from this woman on how to tie my shoes let alone how to change my life. If she is the picture of health, then pass me a bacon cheeseburger. Looking like an emaciated 12 year old boy is not my thing.

Hellcats is another COLOSSAL waste of perfectly good TV time. It has been touted as the Glee for cheerleading. Um, excuse me, but we have a Glee and there is NO comparison at all. So how does one get a job coming up with the ideas for these crazy ass shows? Sounds like a good gig to me.

TLC once again brings us useless hoards of drivel. This one time “Must See” television station has gone way downhill since “My Monkey Baby” aired. One of their newest gems is The Great Getaway. A show basically about annoying families packing for a trip and tips on how to pack. Riveting stuff!

So how are you spending your new television time? Any new hot shows your looking forward to? Any old ones that have jumped the shark and are now on your “NOT” to watch list? What SHOULD I be watching?
