A Night at the Movies

I love movies, all different types and genres, I am just a lover of movies. Ok well maybe not all, not a big fan of war or westerns and come to think of it the whole monster movie thing doesnʼt work for me either.

movie-night-popcultureI especially love movies that involve actors going through a massive transformation, not with latex and makeup, but a real physical change. To see an actor commit to something so passionately and be willing alter their actual being for the role intrigues me to no end. I buy a ticket to see it just for those reasons. Also on a more shallow note, I love hearing how they gained or lost the weight. The losing more so than the gaining, I already have a good handle on that one.

The whole reason this post came about is that I stumbled upon a web site displaying emaciated images of rapper 50 cent. At first glance I was prepared to read an article about his crack addiction or possibly cancer treatments as the images were so startling to me. He lost over 50 pounds, went from 214 pounds (of muscular hotness) to 160 pounds of true scariness, IN 9 WEEKS! He was on a strict liquid diet and spent 3 hours a day on the treadmill to lose the weight, now that is commitment. I know they get paid the big bucks to do and they have help, blah blah blah. Just step back and think about it, 63 days of tasting no solid food, 63 days without a cocktail, ice cream or a single carbohydrate. I am sorry, but that is hard core commitment... I have a friend who has currently gone over 30 days without eating chips, and I think that is the most amazing feat ever, I am in awe of her. I could never imagine not being able to eat solid food... The movie is called Things Fall Apart, I will be going to see it for sure.

When it comes to other amazing transformations I have to give some shout outs to some great actors going the distance for their craft. Who can forget Charlize Theron in Monster, from fabulous to fugly in a scary way. My Girl Bridget Jones a.k.a Renee Zellweger, I love her curves and wobbly bits. Less we forget one of my many girl crushes Hilary Swank in Boyʼs Donʼt Cry, dropped double digit pounds of to play a young female/male with an identity crisis. The one and only Tom Hanks who lost over 50 pounds not once but twice for Castaway and Philadelphia. Total hottie Christian Bale in The Machinist, his weight lost was scary. Finally a queen of the screen Ellen Burstyn in Requiem for a Dream, she went from lovely to lifeless in this movie.

There are so many others I canʼt mention them all, do you have a favourite? Could you do it? Not the gaining part, that part is fun...just add bacon and cheese to everything. Could you do the losing part? How much money would it take for you not to eat bacon or chips for months at a time? I my friend am weak, the second they told me no more wine I would be finished.

I am Weak ...Wallbanger with a slice of will power...

1 ounce Galliano
1 ounce Vodka
1 Oz. Lemon Juice
1 Oz Orange juice
1 Tsp. Simple Syrup
Sprig Of Mint
