Origami is the traditional Japanese art of paper folding. It started in the 17th century and has become an entire art form of its own. While many pieces are extremely intricate and require amazing finger dexterity, there are very basic designs. These types of designs can be done by school aged children by themselves and even younger with adult help.
What a better craft than one that just requires a piece of paper? You can even reuse pieces of paper from around the house. What else are you going to use that hot pink school lunch menu from last month for?
Once your child learns the easy steps to create these pretty cool items, they can do them anywhere with just about anything. Solid colored paper or construction paper could make these animals look more authentic, but also consider a more non-traditional approach. Scrapbook paper and gift wrap could make them go from cute to elegant. With such a simple craft, the possibilities are only limited by your imagination. So here are 6 very easy animals that are perfect for boys or girls.
