Another suggestion is a breast pump if you have one. Having had many issues nursing both times, I was sure to have my pump with me in case I needed it, which in fact I did ![]()

So the time is getting close to having that baby…there are a few things which might be helpful during labour, after birth and for going home.
Here is your hospital checklist:
FOR LABOUR
- Pillows
- Music
- Family photographs
- Extra socks
- Nightgown to give birth in
- Focal point object
- Items to pass the time (magazines for example)
- A back massager
- A watch to measure contractions
- Paper & pen (to keep track of contractions)
- Health/insurance cards
- Doctor/midwife contact information
- Hair bands
- Snacks (for birthing partner)
- Your prescription medications/medication list
- Wallet
AFTER BIRTH
- Comfortable loungewear/pajamas
- Extra underwear
- Sanitary pads
- Personal toiletries (toothbrush, toothpaste, hair brush, deodorant, body cream, shampoo, soap, towel, wash cloth)
- Glasses/contact lenses
- Camera/video camera (with chargers or extra batteries)
- Address book of people you want to contact
- Change of clothes – for Mom
- Change of clothes – for baby
- Diapers
