You’re at the school yard picking up your kids and it happens, a classmate’s mom asks about having a playdate with your child. You talk about schedules and tentative dates and agree to exchange numbers to finalize the details. You dig into your pocket looking for something to write your number on, a gum wrapper, a tissue.
Obviously I’m not the only mom who’s been caught in this situation. I have my fair share of tissue scrawled playdate phone numbers from other moms too.
But there is something better than a used tissue. The Canadian based company Between Mommies had developed a product called Mommy Cards. Similar to business cards, Mommy Cards contain all the relevant contact information you would need when networking in your mom world, whether it’s co-ordinating a playdate or leaving contact information at a day camp.
The nice thing about Mommy Cards is you can customize them. There are currently 31 different designs you can choose from depending on your personal style. Some even enable you to include your children’s photos if you so desire.
Along with choosing your design you can customize the content. Include your address or leave it off, add an additional contact name, include allergy information. The cards are double sided so you can have your key information on the front with more details on the back.
After I selected my design online and entered in all the information I wanted to include, Janet at Between Mommies emailed me about a day later with a proof of both the front and back of my card so I knew exactly what I would be getting and could make changes before printing.
After I approved them, my final cards arrived in the mail about two-weeks later. They came in a flat envelope but there was a foldable box included that I could use to store my cards.
I’ve had my cards for a few weeks now and they’ve been used often. They are about business card size so they fit nicely in my wallet. I’ve used them for contact information at playdates and birthday parties, they’ve come in handy for including on notes to the teacher, my kids even have a few tucked in their backpacks for emergencies. And everyone I’ve given them to are impressed with how organized I am. No more bubble gum wrapper phone numbers from me.
A box of 100 double-sided Mommy Cards costs $48.00 Cdn, plus $5.00 for mailing by Canada Post.

I purchased 2 sets of these cards (different designs) and LOVE them! One set I put ALL my information, kids medical info, health card # (and use this set for grandparents, moms I know really well, girl guide campout)..which I might say..worked really well when the grandparents had to take my daughter to emergency..all her medical & numbers were on one simple card.
The second set, I only used my first name, kids first name and my emergency/home numbers..for playdates, birthday parties, snack mom, etc.
Again, did I mention that I LOVE my cards (and I feel pretty trendy handing them out!!).

the cards are little watercolor illustrations, and the squirrels playing ball is my favorite at http://www.artaboutthebaby.com
