Thera Wise: Natural Bio-Active Ointments for Cold, Flu and more

Have you noticed since having kids that cold and flu season seems to be all year? Coldest day in winter or hottest summer afternoon, runny noses seem to find their way into our house.

With all the negative press about overmedicating kids and over-the-counter products being pulled from store shelves, I find myself looking to alternative or more natural treatments for when my kids are under the weather.

therawiseThat’s where Thera Wise Natural Bio-Active Therapeutic Ointments come in. They are plant based organic healing ointments designed to treat cold and flu, hemorrhoids, acne and skin healing (in different formulations of course).

My three-year-old volunteered to try out the VpR Vaporizing Rub when she came down with a cold. The tube is only 28g which seems small at first but really you’re only using an amount the size of a dime. The package doesn’t have any indications for use on children but when I spoke with the company they assured me it was safe to use.

My three-year-old loved the minty smell when I rubbed it into her chest, throat and outside of her nose. I actually liked it too; not medicine smelling at all. My daughter didn’t complain about any warm burning sensation like you sometimes feel with other rubs. She slept soundly through the night.

My seven-year-old and I both tried it for our stuffy noses and noticed how it worked right away, clearing the nasal passages for much better breathing at night. My oldest daughter has sensitive skin that tends to breakout in a non-threatening but certainly uncomfortable rash so we’re careful of what is put on her skin. The VpR Vaporizing Rub didn’t cause any reaction and I feel better knowing now artificial chemicals are being absorbed through her skin.

The Thera Wise line currently consists of four products:

VpR Bio-Active Vaporizing Decongestant Rub for coughs, colds, nasal and chest congestion.

HmR Bio-Active Hemorrhoidal Ointment to relieve discomfort and itching associated with hemorrhoids and inflamed tissues. A natural product, this makes it ideal for hemorrhoids that occur during pregnancy.

SHO Bio-Active Skin Healing Ointment to aid in the healing of wounds by reducing skin irritation and inflammation.

Ac+ Bio-Active Acne Ointment designed to reinforce your skin’s natural defense mechanisms and to reduce swelling and local inflammation caused by acne.

After a great experience using the VpR Vaporizing Rub, I know I’ll be on the lookout for SHO Skin Healing Ointment to treat the many, MANY, scraps my kids collect each day. The Thera Wise line of products can be found at major retailers across the country or you can order online from Thera Wise directly and other online stores.

This year, our family of four has had a total of probably 8 to 10 colds! I love the fact that there are ointments for different ailments and the size is perfect for a purse!

Probablyh at least four colds go through our family a year - that's a minimum. I think we have weak immune systems.

Thanks for the great review! I'm going to go out and look for the VpR Bio-Active Vaporizing Decongestant today. 4/5 of us have a bad cold right now....momma included!
In my house, someone usually has a cold every second month. We'd be looking at 12 colds at least per year for the whole house.

Between the 4 of us, we probably go through about 4-5 colds throughout the year. We've been pretty lucky as we used to go through about 15 in the year. I had the flu this year for the first time in about 10 years. Now that is something that I wouldn't wish on anyone.

It all depends, and this past Winter was a bad one for flus and colds, but generally my family of 4, gets about 1-2 cold or flu spells each per year.

tell us how roughly many colds or flues your family goes through in a year: it depends really but normally we each get at least 2 colds and thankfully no one has had the flu this year to date.

With three kids we go about through 10-12 colds and flus a year. It's mostly my son he is a germ magnet. Thanks for the chance to win:-)

Since January, my husband, son (3yo), daughter (20 mo) and I have been sick 3 different times. On each occassion, one of us starts off with a cold and we pass it to each other. By the time the last person starts to feel better, the first one comes down with the same symptoms all over again! I feel horrible when the kids are sick because they are too little to have cold meds. I would love to try natural remedies to make them feel better.

My kids seem to fend off colds fairly well each passing whole winters without one sometimes and if not they get one. When they do get one though they tend to get a bad one.

I'm always sick. No immune system whatsoever. So are my little siblings and parents. I'm scared that my little one will start getting sick soon too. All together we are probably sick up to 50 times a year. Crazy!

My hubby and I are both teachers (GERM FACTORY!!), one kid in preschool, and the other at a dayhome. So there is very few times that we arent all sick at the same time, at least every 2-3 months! So I would say about 20 times a year between the four of us. HELP!! PLEASE!!!!

It's hard to tell because cold season rolls right into allergy season and I feel like I'm wiping noses and running humidifiers for 6 months of the year. DD is never sick, but the boys probably run 3-5 colds a year.
