The holidays are a great time to reconnect with family, both near and far, as well as friends. There’s something about this season that makes you want to reach out and connect with others, share festive greetings, spread the feeling of joy that is in your heart and Christmas cards and holiday greetings are a great way to do that. We’ve found some Fabulous ideas and tools for your Christmas and holiday messages this year.
Boxed Christmas Cards
Whether you’re celebrating Christmas, Hannakuh or just want to send festive greetings for the season, you’ll be able to find all sorts of preprinted boxed cards to express your feelings. My favourite boxed cards are those from the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA). These cards are beautifully designed and have a form of interactivity built in, like stickers or moving elements or fabulous pop-outs. Cost varies by card design.
Template Photo Christmas Cards
You know the expression; a picture is worth a thousand words. Send a custom card including a recent photo of the kids or the whole family. Sites like Cardstore.com, Kodakgallery.ca and PearTreeGreetings.com enable you to choose from a variety of preset designs and customize them with your own photos and personal message.
Custom Christmas Cards
You’re family is unique; perhaps a custom designed card will suit your needs. Custom cards don’t have to break the bank either. You can find local, independent designers who will work with you to come up with a design that suits your family and meets your needs. One of my favourites is Grace Announcements.
Family Christmas Newsletter
Sometimes a small message in a card isn’t enough to capture what your family has been up to. A family newsletter might be more your style. If you have Microsoft Office, then you have access to their FREE database of templates, including family newsletters. The design is set and the format structured. All you need to do is write in your family news, add pictures and print. Now everyone can see what the family’s been up to.
Electronic Christmas Cards
Perhaps you’ve passed the mailing deadlines to get your holiday greetings out before Christmas. No worries. If your recipiet has an email address you can send them an e-card. Companies like 123 Greetings, American Greetings and Halmark enable you to send simple greeting or an interactive greeting, adding your own personal message. Some of the greeting card companies even offer mobile greetings that can be send right to someone’s phone.
Christmas Card Tools
If you’re planning on printing your own photo cards a KODAK ESP 6150 All-in-One Printer ($199.95 Cdn) makes printing easy with the lowest ink replacement cost in the industry, wifi capable and colour display so printing can even be down without a computer. And to capture those photos the super thin Kodak EasyShare M590 Digital Camera ($199.95 Cdn) enables you to capture those special family moments no matter where you are and share instantly.
