Whether it’s a gift for me or for someone else, Etsy Canada is the first place I look for something unique and original. I love that the site connects crafters from all over the country with buyers like myself but seeing items first hand and meeting crafters in person is a nice touch. It’s this reason I love the Etsy Marketplace at the Toronto One of a Kind Show.
This year’s spring show you’ll find Etsy crafters offering their own creative flair from clothing and toys to pottery and jewelry. Pamper yourself with Eko Ella’s eco-friendly soap or Malee by Nature’s macaroon soy candles. Update your outfit with a fold over clutch from Recraft Inc made from salvaged fabrics or a crocheted cuff from Michele Guevara. Maybe add a unique pizzazz to your home with a ceramic bowl from The Otter Potter or upcycled dinner plates from The Sweet Escape to decorate your walls.
Of course anything designed with kids in mind always melts my heart and you’ll find plenty of heart melting items at the One of a Kind Show’s Etsy Marketplace. I especially like the dolls from Sew Whimsical by Katie. The fact that her dolls incorporate vintage, repurposed linen and are obviously hand made with love is enough to win your heart but the characters she creates will stir a desire to buy one of her creations for every child you know.
Her custom superhero doll with matching child size cape and mask will call upon your own child’s inner hero. Her Canadian Hero dolls (Dr Roberta Bondar, Terry Fox, or Princess Green Mantle) will instil a sense of pride about our heritage, reminding us that sometimes the impossible is possible with a little courage and conviction.
