You Having a Baby book review

youbookSo the stick has come back positive; you’re pregnant! Baby names and cute maternity outfits flood your mind along with questions about diet or concerns about changes in your relationship with your partner. After having three kids I’ve learned being pregnant is both exciting and scary. I’ve also learned whether it’s your first pregnancy or your fifth, each one is diifferent .

The book You Having a Baby: The Owner’s Manual to a Happy and Healthy Pregnancy, part of the You series by Simon and Schuster, is designed to alleviate some of your concerns and answer some of your questions. You Having a Baby is a large compendium consisting of 448 pages of facts, suggestions and tips, plus a pull-out 40-week planning calendar to help you track key events.

You Having a Baby deals with issues on how this pregnancy affects you such as: hormonal changes affecting you and others around you, dealing with the myth of ‘eating for two’ and cravings, the unpleasant side-effects of pregnancy and how to deal with them.

Even though the book is written by Michael F. Roizen, MD and Mehmet C. Oz, MD, the content is very friendly versus full of medical jargon. As you read through the pages you’ll find light-hearted illustrations includes as well as call-out boxes containing quick tidbits and tips for you to find easily.

I’ve had a number of pregnancy books through my three pregnancies, but You Having a Baby seems to deal with topics touched on briefly in other books. You can read an excerpt of Chapter 1 on Simon and Schuster's US site.

my question would be: Is it true that sleeping on your left side is better for blood flow between you and the baby?

Not the best book for first time moms, this book uses more of a scare tactic if anything. It reads as though it has sponsors. CONGRATS to all the moms to be!!!!
