Hi everyone!
My name is Jennifer and I am a professional photographer in the Toronto area. I’m known as PhotoMom on the forums here.
For a while now I’ve been toying with the idea of creating a resource for moms who want to learn how to take great pictures of their kids using the camera they currently own. I am a firm believer that it’s not the camera that makes a photographer great. It’s the person behind the lens. I’ve seen some amazing images captured by simple point and shoot cameras!
A bit about myself…although this is my third year in business, capturing wonderful images of beautiful families, I’ve been a photographer all my life. My dad taught me the delicate art of composition, lighting and technical camera mumbo jumbo when I was 18. I was officially hooked ever since. You can see my most recent work at http://blog.naturallybeautifulphotography.com.
But I’m not here for self-promotion! I’d like to hear from everyone their questions about photography to help me plan a “weekly lesson” for everyone. :) If you have a question, please leave it in the comment section. I look forward to hearing from everyone!

Sounds great and look forward to your blog!
I’d like to know how to have a person as the focal point with a blurry background?
Thanks! I’ll make that my first topic.
I would love to understand more about the tools photographers use - what exactly are those big white pop open things for? And how do they amp colours (like a child’s blue eyes) up so much? Is Photoshop the only software to use, or are there less expensive (and complicated) programs out there?
