Little Monkeys Jumping on the….Couch?

Thursday, August 5th, 2010
We were lucky to have our friends the N's visit us from Northern Alberta on Tuesday night.  Evan had a BLAST playing with Abby and Daniel.  I took a few other pictures but I think this video really sums up how the evening went.  They had so much fun!

Happy Graduation, Will!

Monday, June 28th, 2010
This weekend has been so busy that I have lots to post about.  I don't have time to upload all the pics tonight so I will post over the next few days!

Will graduated from sixth grade last week.  He is very glad to be done with Elementary School and heading to Middle School.  He's a little worried that next year might be harder than sixth grade but I think he's ready for the challenge.  This year has been an up and down year with respect to grades & school but I have faith that if he just focusses he will do great!

He's getting to be so handsome!

Out comes the bunny years

Dewey is very much the proud Dad!  Don't they look alike?

Dying Easter Eggs

Monday, April 5th, 2010
I took quite a few pictures this weekend.  I thought I would break the picture overload into a few posts.

Evan wasn't sure about dying Easter eggs.

Family time!  Nicole is hamming it up.

Crazed almost 12 year old!

Evan didn't really understand that he needed to be gentle with the eggs.

Smily face egg.

Polka Dots are Cool!

Evan won't hold his egg still long enough for a picture.

Pretty eggs!  I especially like the Easter Bunny one on the right.

Did you dye Easter Eggs this year?

Happy Easter!

Sunday, April 4th, 2010
I hope everyone is having a wonderful Easter with family and friends!  The Easter Bunny visited us last night and left lots of goodies for the kids (I guess the adults were bad this year!) and hid Easter eggs outside for an early morning egg hunt.

Nicole decided to write the Easter Bunny a note to find out more about him/her.  Here's what she asked & the Easter Bunny's answers:

  1. What is the most popular thing that you give to kids on Easter?  Why chocolate of course!
  2. What is your favorite celebrity?  Bugs Bunny
  3. What is your favorite song?  "Here Comes Peter Cottontail" or "Little Bunny Foo Foo"  Can't decide.
We're at the farm until this afternoon so I'll try to upload some pictures then.  I would love to hear about your celebrations!

Pull Ups Potty Dance Blog Tour!

Wednesday, March 31st, 2010
I was asked to participate in the Pull Ups Potty Dance Blog Tour. Since we are in the middle of our potty training journey (ha!), I figured it was an appropriate topic. I must admit that potty training is a topic that exasperates me to no end! Evan is NOT INTERESTED in learning to go to the bathroom in the potty. We have had various levels of success. A few days he went pee in the potty 5 or 6 times and then other days nothing. Today when we asked him about it he said "Today I peed in mine diaper but it's okay. One day I will pee in the potty!"

So far our approach has been pretty laid back.  We put him in pull ups or underwear (if we're feeling brave) and then we ask him if he needs to go to the potty every so often.  He then gets a Smartie (M&M) when he goes pee in the potty (we are currently focussing pee because any mention of pooping in the potty leads him to scream "Nooooooo!!!!!" and hide in the pantry).  We are not having overwhelming success.

My next steps include trying out the Pull Ups Potty Dance & incorporating a sticker chart.  I played the following videos for Evan and he seemed kind of interested.  He loves music and the beat is nice in the potty dance videos.  Want to know what this crazy Potty Dance looks like?  Here are a couple of videos.  You can also find out more information at www.pull-ups.com.

We'll see how it goes.  I will check back in with you to let you know how things are going!  I would love to hear your ideas on how to get Evan on the potty wagon!

I am a participant in the Pull Ups Potty Dance Blog Tour & I was compensated for writing a post about potty training.

Happy Friday!

Saturday, February 6th, 2010
Yay! The week from hell is over!

We have our friend Rune visiting from Austin. We love visitors! For Dewey & Me it means adult conversation and maybe a few glasses of wine. For Evan it means a new person to talk to non-stop. He talked to "Roooma" all night. So cute. When we put him to bed he said "I wuv you mama!". I said "Do you love Daddy?" Evan said "Yep, and that other guy."

He is so funny!

Getting Ready for Halloween!

Tuesday, October 27th, 2009

Will and Nicole were here this weekend so we decided to (finally) decorate for Halloween. Dewey took them out to buy one of those ginourmous blow up lawn decorations. Evan loves it and calls it "the punkin with the monsters". We have to open the blinds in his room so that he can say "Goodnight" to them before bed.

Nicole decorated the front porch with Halloween tinsel.

Our awesome witch that sings "Ghouls Just Wanna Have Fun" just like Cyndi Lauper

Nicole trying to look scary with spiderwebs on her head but managing to look more like George Washington.

Evan is such a camera hog. I told him to sit by the pumpkin & this is what he did...

then this....

then I told him to try to pick up the pumpkin.....check out the face! Ha!

Last but not least I bought a ton of candy at Costco. Now we just have to figure out what we're going to be for our Halloween party on Friday. What.....you thought we would have done that by now???? You OBVIOUSLY don't know how we roll!
