Australia is a vast, scenic country and has something to offer people of all ages. From a metropolitan holiday to the great Australian wilderness holiday. A holiday in Australia can be as unaffordable or as cheap as you like, depending on your taste and amount of money to spend. There are 3 to 5 star hotels at one extreme or for those who love to get back to nature there are caravan holidays with many wildlife parks and caravan sites for free.

For those after a metropolitan holiday in Australia the cities to see are Melbourne, Sydney, the Gold Coast or Perth.

Melbourne is considered very trendy for Australian cities with its mix of modern and Victorian architectures. It has a large variety of shops and cultural restaurants. Other important endeavours whilst in Melbourne is to explore the Great Ocean Road. This is a 200 mile drive along some of the most spectacular coastline.

Sydney is the finance place of Australia and has a rich range of designer clothes shops and places to eat. See the idealic Sydney Harbour by ferry as well as Darling Harbour and The Rocks. Taronga Zoo, Bondi Beach or The Blue Mountains are also worth a visit.

The Gold Coast has a lot to offer everyone and is well prepared for families with a good range of family accommodation for vacancy and plenty of theme parks and rides.

Perth in W.A., is a city with many untouched beaches. Western Australia also has the tree top walk, a large range of wineries or the blow hole.

For a more far flung holiday in Australia then Far North Queensland would have to be  on the list of places to visit. The Great Barrier Reef is a big attraction with snorkeling around the coral with the plentiful fish. Or you could see the ancient rainforest in the world, the Daintree rainforest. If you are after a more adventurous holiday take a trip to outback Australia along the Savannah Way. You can then move on to Darwin or the heritage listed Kakadu National Park and explore the wonderful nature walks and wildlife. There are many wilderness parks in this area if you are after a cheaper outdoor holiday. If you fancy a guide there are also plenty of guided tours.

The Whitsunday Islands are serene secluded islands perfect for a peaceful holiday away from the hustle and bustle of the metropolitan cities.

Port Douglas in Cairns is also a beautiful visit.
