Kathy when I read you knew my Grandma Mary I gasped, then seeing you are my mom's cousin who she has talked so much of recently I was so happy to bring something positive to you and your son! I can't imagine loosing my husband or dad and my thoughts have been with you both.

Thank you so much for commenting, I wasn't sure my mom even read this blog- guess she does. I just got so angry that I never met her but my 'memories" of her are as vivid as they are of Grandpa ( and his poodles)...but that's another post!

What a beautiful piece! It brought tears to my eyes on a very personal basis. I knew your Grandma, not as a groundbreaking female canadian athlete which she was, but as one of my favorite aunts - she was a fantastic role model as a strong and fun loving female and she put on the best family Christmas!
My husband died very recently and our son's biggest regret is that his children won't know their Grandpa but this essay reinforces to me to keep his memory alive for them with his memorabilia and stories of the laughter and joy he spread. Thank you for a wonderful perspective!

YES, it was an amazing experience. I cannot get enough. I love reading everyone's individual takeaway and reliving the moment.

You are a wonderful blogger whether you chose to share your opinions or not. I totally understand what you are saying too. I shy away from oversharing on my blog b/c my friends and family read it. I threaten to start a blog without telling anyone so that I can blog my deep dark secrets (yeah right). :)

I seem to fall into blogging about controversial topics accidentally. I have strong opinions about a number of topics, but I don't try to get into them as blogging issues unless they relate to my core points.

In the case of talking about cesareans and formula feeding, they did. Health care reform, did. A lot of the other political issues and dramas, don't, so I don't talk about them.

And I'm definitely in the super-shy side in person and much more outgoing online than in person.

Thanks ladies!

I found out later the push at church was during a sanctioned pillow fight... but I bet it's actually the same reason as you Amanda, our friend is really close and it's the first time she has started playing with him and her brother during playdates. I am just so frustrated that he has never pushed anyone and he chooses someone half his age. And he's so well behaved every where else.
