Fill in the blanks with your own wild, romantic tale (or a twisting plot full of thermometers, ovulation calendars and “date nights”) – however you do it, fertilization usually occurs toward the end of the second week or the beginning of the third week of your menstrual cycle. Menstrual cycles vary in length from 28-36 days, with the average being 28, and ovulation generally occurs near the halfway point.
Your uterine lining is thickening to nourish an egg as it would during any menstrual cycle. After being released from the ovary, the egg travels down the Fallopian tube (where it is normally met by the sperm cell which will fulfil its destiny) toward the uterus, a trip that takes up to several days.
While you can’t yet feel the changes of pregnancy, your little one is on her way!
