TOPIC: Screaming Toddler
#828
Re:Screaming Toddler 8 Months, 3 Weeks ago Karma: 1
Well I went to my doctor and she said that the head banging is only an issue if they are not meeting their milestones (and my son is meeting them all). She told me just to put words to what he is feeling and and its really working. I know he gets mad when its time to stop playing with his toys (he could sit in his coupe call all day) so when I take him out I just tell him "I know your frustrated but it's time to come inside and have lunch." She also suggested giving him a ball to throw or a drum to hit when he's mad because he is more a physical kinda boy. We have still had a few head bangs against the wall but not so hard (I think he knows now that it hurts). I must say I was not expecting this to happen so soon, I was expecting the tantrums at 2 but not 13 months (when they started). He is knows what he wants i guess.

When kids are little transitions can be hard for them, especially when it comes to leaving toys/play time to do something unexciting, like lunch!

Hang in there.

I just found this article about head banging toddlers - now I know I am not alone and this is normal especially for boys. www.babycenter.com/0_head-banging_11554....w:434&pe=2UpHIM1
