Like the book? Love the connection...

Picture it: a group of women surround a table littered with cheese, crusty bread, goblets half-filled with inky-toned shiraz. The table cloth is a little stained, but they pay no mind as they laugh and raise eyebrows, alternating an exchange so passionate, occasionally one shouts ‘yes’ and slaps her palm onto the table. The tremor of her agreement is enough to cause the fullest of stemware a shudder, and a few drops of wine splash over its edge.

Directly onto a book.

These women aren’t old friends, reliving days in the past. Members of a book club, they have gotten so enchanted with the tome they’re currently reviewing, that stained linens no longer matter, the dishes can remain unwashed for a few more hours, and they haven’t thought about the bills all evening. These women have met to discuss literature, themes, characters and plot lines, and even more so, they’ve come to bond over a singular commonality: their love of the written word.

We love to read. We love finding little bits in the day, when demands are low and we can curl up in another century, city and issue. We love how words can weave together to transport us to another place, and how we can learn without setting a foot in the classroom. Most of all, we love to talk about the books we love to read, and we love a night out with the ladies.

Here at EverythingMom, we saw an absence – a way to connect with our like-minded peers, to discuss what really got us excited about the last 200 pages we turned. We knew that we needed to create something wonderful.

Bookscene is an online resource for great reads at spectacular prices, and they’ve partnered with EverythingMom to bring you our smashing new book club program with our Online National Book Club. Interested? Here’s the details:

Online National Book Club

BS300You can join EverythingMom’s National Online Book Club, if you’re not keen or able to gather with others but still want to participate. Our virtual book club will meet whenever we can log on, we’ll read a new book every month and vote to decide which one, and we’ll discuss everything that a book club meeting face-to-face would… we’ll just be at home with our glasses of wine.

EverythingMom’s National Book Club members are also privy to an extra 10% off at Bookscene everyday, as well as special prizes of their own!

But, what about my eReader?

To participate in either of the book clubs, you’ve got to read the books and talk about what you’ve read. It matters not whether you’ve whipped through the newest chick lit on an iPad or Kindle, or the good, old-fashioned hard-copy page-turning method. But, just for conversation’s sake, consider this:

Candace Bushnell’s newest, The Carrie Diaries, retails for $9.99 at Bookscene, $9.52 on Amazon (for Kindle) and on your iPhone or Pad, it could be up to $14.99. If you add in your book club discount, Bookscene is the least expensive option!

We can’t wait to see what you’re reading this summer!

*Bookscene requires a minimum of three books purchased per year to maintain membership, therefore your book club must review at least three books, but there’s no maximum!

I am excited about this, and can't wait to hear what our first book is.

I just finished a wonderful book by Diana Joseph, "I'm sorry you feel that way."

I love this idea! We just moved to a new area and I haven't met very many ladies! So it will be nice to have some new friends to talk about books with!
Oh and a nice glass of wine never hurts!
